Laboratory Mixture Samples
Testing mix components or production samples against the target mixture.
Asphalt mixture and pavement testing covering Marshall, binder content, gradation, Gmm, cores, thickness, density, and compaction to project specifications.

In Short
Asphalt testing is a field and laboratory service for asphalt mixtures and paved layers; it is not asphalt supply or paving-equipment rental. Scope can include Marshall, bitumen content and gradation, maximum theoretical specific gravity, asphalt cores, thickness, density, and compaction. Results are compared with the project specification and approved JMF.
Asphalt quality control connects three stages: source materials, the produced mixture, and the layer after placement and compaction. The JMF records the target composition and limits. Production samples and cores then show whether the tested mixture and paved layer align with the requirements supplied to the laboratory.
Asphalt density alone is not enough to evaluate paving. The reference density, calculation method, core location, layer thickness, and mixture results all matter. The laboratory reports measurements and comparisons, while the authorized project party determines acceptance or corrective action under the contract and specification.
The test package follows the project stage and the question the results must answer.
Testing mix components or production samples against the target mixture.
Sampling or coring with location records, followed by paved-layer measurements.
The governing method, limits, and frequency come from the approved project documents.
Marshall specimen preparation and stability and flow testing
Quantitative extraction of asphalt binder from mixtures
Sieve analysis of extracted aggregate
Maximum theoretical specific gravity of asphalt mixtures (Gmm)
Sampling compacted asphalt mixtures
Bulk specific gravity of non-absorptive compacted specimens
Thickness measurement of compacted asphalt specimens
Every sample should trace to the mix, layer, location, and comparison reference.
1. Review Scope and References
We collect the project specification, JMF, layer type, sampling locations or frequency, and required tests.
2. Sample and Record
The mixture sample or core is identified by date, location, orientation, and layer, with condition recorded on receipt.
3. Test and Calculate
Agreed tests are performed and density or compaction is calculated using the specified reference rather than an assumed generic value.
4. Report and Compare
The report presents methods, results, location data, and the supplied JMF or specification limits, highlighting items needing review.
Agree on references, sampling locations, and deliverables before paving or coring starts.
Send the project stage, sample type, and requirements so the correct visits and test package can be scoped.

From our Makkah head office, via equipped field teams
Content varies with the mixture or core test and the work-order scope.
Review mixture components and quality planning, then send the project scope for a quotation.
The project specification, JMF, and inspection plan define the package and frequency. Mixture tests may include Marshall stability and flow, binder content, aggregate gradation, and Gmm. Paved-layer checks may include asphalt cores, thickness, density, and compaction. One package does not automatically fit every project.

Makkah's roads around the Grand Mosque and the Hajj routes in Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat carry millions of pedestrians and heavy buses. Asphalt pavement surface temperatures exceed 70°C in summer, causing severe rutting in wheel tracks.
We perform the full suite of asphalt tests per SASO 1177 and Ministry of Transport specifications: Marshall Stability and Flow to determine optimal binder content, extraction tests verifying in-place binder percentage, nuclear gauge compaction checks, and Dynamic Creep testing to assess high-temperature deformation resistance. Reports document layer-by-layer compliance (base, binder, wearing course) for government submission.
